Andrew is a former editor of Digital Battlespace and Unmanned Vehicles magazines. Andrew joined Shephard Media from Jane’s, where he was land forces reporter for International Defence Review and Jane’s Defence Weekly.
Andrew has served with UK forces in three operational theatres: Afghanistan, the Balkans and Iraq. He still contributes to Shephard titles, including Land Warfare International, when he isn't teaching people how to remove vital organs with a dull spoon.
Ben Vogel is News Editor for Shephard Media. He has almost 20 years' experience in defence and aerospace journalism, including 17 years at Jane's where he edited Jane's Airport Review from 2007 to 2019. Other roles at Jane's included editing the janes.com website, and covering the global defence industry as a reporter and analyst.
Chuanren is a Singapore-based freelance aviation and defence writer, and a full time photographer. Having served in the Republic of Singapore Air Force, he specialises in air defence and both military and commercial aviation developments. He has a Diploma in Mechatronics (Aerospace) and Bachelor in Communications (Mass Communications).
Flavia Camargos Pereira is a land reporter
at Shephard Media. She joined the company in 2020, after obtaining a masters
degree in International Journalism at Brunel University London. Prior to her
masters degree, she earned a bachelors degree in Media Studies from Federal
University of Juiz de Fora (Brazil). She is a former member of the Brazilian
armed forces, where she spent around 10 years in service.
Gordon Arthur is the Asia Pacific editor for Shephard Media. Born in Scotland and educated in New Zealand, Gordon had a stint of nearly 20 years in the territory of Hong Kong before returning to NZ.
His work has appeared in nearly 40 international defence journals and magazines to date. His focus is primarily on Asia-Pacific countries, and he travels extensively in the region to attend defence shows and observe military exercises.
İlker is Defence Insight Manager at Shephard Media. He has over ten years of experience in defence.
Prior to joining Shephard in July 2018, Ilker served as an officer in the Turkish Armed Forces, including overseas missions in Iraq and Washington DC. He has extensive experience in air defence specifically having been at various points: the Land Forces air defence liaison officer at the Combined Air Operation Centre in Turkey, which commands all engagements; served as an air defence missile platoon commander; and as the air defence commander designing air defence architecture at Turkey's base in Iraq.
He holds an MA International Relations degree from War Studies Department at the King’s College London and BSc in Systems Engineering from Turkish Military Academy.
Noemi Distefano is Shephard Media's multimedia journalist.
She joined the company in 2019, following a Master Degree in Journalism at Edinburgh Napier University and a series of internships in news broadcast in both radio and TV in the UK. Previously, Noemi achieved a Bachelor Degree in Literature, Philology and Linguistics at the University of Pisa (Italy) and she worked as a freelance journalist in Italy.
