SAS14: V-22 office readies for navy order
The V-22 Joint Program Office is preparing itself for the potential order of 48 of the tiltrotors for the US Navy, which it is hoping will pass in near-term financial year budgets.
The US Navy is still deciding on the direction for the replacement of its Carrier Onboard Delivery (COD) capability, which is currently provided by the Grumman C2 Greyhound cargo aircraft.
The V-22 – which is already operational with the USMC and USAF – is in the running for the COD replacement, although no decisions have been made as yet.
