STG Aerospace says it has delivered the 5,000th shipset of its SafTGlo photoluminescent emergency floorpath marking system.
The British company, which also makes the revolutionary WEPPS emergency lighting power system, has sold more than a thousand SafTGlo units in the past two years and says that almost a third of the global air transport fleet is now fitted with the product.
After a short period of charging with normal cabin lighting the system can store and simultaneously emit light for up to 16 hours in darkness, providing a low-cost and highly reliable alternative to electrical systems. “SafTGlo is increasingly popular because of its cost-saving potential in today’s climate of high oil prices and economic uncertainty,” says STG chief executive Peter Stokes. “Our customers have shown that the payback time on our product range can be measured in months rather than years.”
SafTGlo is seller-furnished equipment on all new Embraer aircraft and is also fitted to most new Boeing 737NGs, with the remainder of the business coming from carriers upgrading or refurbishing their fleets.
