Why military integration is paramount for EU defence chief

Despite Brexit and a lack of backing for a European Army the Chief Executive of the European Defence Agency (EDA) highlighted his commitment to collaboration on European defence matters in an exclusive Shephard interview. 

Explicitly stating he was not calling for a European Army, Jorge Domecq, EDA Chief Executive, told Shephard that the evolution of European defence would come through further ‘development of the permanent structure collaboration’.

‘We should go towards a more coherent set of capabilities which are more deployable, more sustainable and more interoperable,’ outlined Domecq.
