Terma: RNLAF and Belgian deliveries complete
Terma announced on 19 June that it had completed the deliveries of Missile Warning Systems (MWS) and 3D-Audio upgrades for F-16 platforms operated by the Belgian and Dutch militaries.
Denmark was the launch customer for the AAR-60(V)2 MWS, followed by Norway, Belgium and the Netherlands. According to the company, the system has performed well in deployment, improving the pilot’s situational awareness by constantly looking for missiles. Without it, a pilot would have to rely on their own sight to detect incoming missiles.
The MWS can be installed on an aircraft pylon, meaning that it can be rotated between aircraft without taking up a weapon station.
Terma has also provided a 3D-Audio system to further improve a pilot’s situational awareness. The system works by warning the pilot with a tone from the direction the missile is coming. It also provides radio channel separation and noise reduction.
