The Czech MoD reported on 4 June that it has entered into negotiations with Nexter to procure 52 CAESAR 155mm self-propelled howitzers, to replace Dana howitzers in the 13th Artillery Regiment. The decision was unanimously approved by the MoD on 21 May.

The value of the contract is estimated to be approximately CZK5.95 billion ($249.25 million) with the aim of delivering the CAESAR howitzers between 2022 and 2026.

The Czech military has requested that the howitzer maintains use of a Tatra 8x8 chassis, which is the common chassis for its self-propelled artillery.

The CAESAR has a maximum range of 55km with specialised ammunition, and 42km with standard 155mm-calibre rounds.
