Dutch to use specially designed military quad bikes
Defenture BV is to produce 249 diesel-fuelled quad bikes for the Dutch military, under a contract announced on 10 August.
The deal, worth an undisclosed amount, includes maintenance and spare parts supply.
The bikes are specifically designed to military specifications. They are expected to be delivered by 2023-24 for use by Netherlands Special Operations Command, 11 Airmobile Brigade, commando units and the Netherlands Marine Corps.
Defenture designed the military quad bikes to be air-transportable by CH-47F Chinook (inside the helicopter or underslung).
Before series production begins, the manufacturer will work with Dutch military specialists and the Defence Materiel Organisation to conduct intensive verification tests on ten prototypes.
