Lynx procurement plan typifies Hungarian ambitions
The potential procurement of KF41 Lynx IFVs by the Hungarian government for €2 billion (US$2.4 billion), signalled on 17 August in an agreement with Rheinmetall, is significant for several reasons and is another key element in the startling transformation of the Hungarian Army’s armoured vehicle fleet.
Neither Rheinmetall nor the Hungarian MoD could provide details about the number of platforms to be produced or the delivery schedule, but Shephard Defence Insight forecasts that Hungary will buy 200 Lynx vehicles for delivery from 2022-2026.
