Poland enhances military presence near Belarus

A new tank battalion is being formed in eastern Poland, after the first batch of modified T-72M1 MBTs was received by the 19th Mechanized Brigade in Lublin.

This brigade will form part of the recently established 18th Mechanized Division in Siedlce (about 115km from the border with Belarus). There are now four Polish Land Forces divisions tasked with protecting the east of the country from military threats.

Eventually the 19th Mechanized Brigade will include two tank battalions, each with 58 MBTs, as well as infantry, self-propelled artillery and air defence elements.
