UAV extends Spearnet infantry radio network

Mounting a Spearnet soldier radio on a UAV, says ITT, dramatically extends the reach of soldier radio networks. The company revealed this interesting perspective on Spearnet, during a briefing to Unmanned Vehicles' Middle East Editor while speaking at IDEX 09 in Abu Dhabi.

Spearnet is well known in the soldier technology market as a possible individual soldier or squad leader IP radio. This means that every soldier is part of a self-healing, self-organizing ad-hoc networking tactical internet, which is capable of passing data at between 1.5-6 mps in the 1.2-1.4Ghz operating bands.
