Belgium builds SF capability
Under Belgium's strategic vision 2030 defence plan, the nation’s special forces (SF) will be expanded and reorganized.
In addition to increasing the size of the Special Forces Group to 225, the Belgian army’s two para-commando units: 2 Commando Battalion and 3 Parachute Battalion - will be transformed into ranger battalions composing Belgium’s special operations capable forces.
Under the Belgian army’s current structure, para-commando units are part of the Light Brigade, along with the 12/13 Line Battalion.
