GSA awards SOF light tactical vehicle contract to Polaris
The US General Services Administration (GSA) awarded a follow-on contract worth up to $109 million to Polaris Government & Defense for its MRZR Alpha vehicle, following a competitive bid.
The seven-year contract which was awarded on 29 May. It calls for the delivery of two- and four-seat diesel vehicles in seven variants or packages.
Jed Leonard, VP of Polaris Government & Defense, said: ‘USSOCOM and GSA provided the industry with clear and early communication of requirements – we listened, we invested and we are honoured another MRZR will be available for US Special Operations.’
MRZRs are fitted with C-UAS, weapons and high-energy laser systems, ISR systems, expeditionary C2 systems, autonomy packages, litters for medical and casualty evacuation and additional communications equipment.
Engineering support and training for the Lightweight Tactical All Terrain Vehicle (LTATV) is also included in the new contract. Polaris previously provided training to 3,500 dealers operating in more than 120 countries.
