French SOF await two new vehicle types.
Arquus has started road tests of its Special Forces Light Vehicle (VLFS) and Special Forces Heavyweight Standard 2 (PLFS) vehicles intended for French SOF.
In December 2015, French procurement agency DGA ordered 202 PLFS 2 vehicles and 241 VLFS platforms for a total cost of €250 million ($280.45 million).
A total of 25 first-generation PLFS vehicles were delivered in 2019, but they were deemed unsuitable and remain unused in the field by SOF.
PLFS 2 is presented as a completely new vehicle, with a design based on a modified version of the Sherpa Light chassis known as the Sherpa FS.
