US SOCOM manpack delay continues
Plans to procure an on-the-move satellite communications capability for US Special Forces have been pushed back.
The Request for Proposal for the Next-Generation Man Pack (NGMP) programme run by US Special Operations Command (US SOCOM), due in August, has not yet been released.
A draft RFP was published in June, which outlined expectations to replace legacy AN/PRC-117F, AN/PRC-117G, and AN/PRC-150 communications systems. The contract is expected to comprise a six-year contract worth a minimum of $290million with a total requirement for up to 6,000 NGMP systems.
