Raytheon to make more Silent Knight radars
US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) has placed a $235.58 million multi-year procurement contract with Raytheon for production and delivery of the Silent Knight Radar.
Work on the sole-source contract is expected to be completed by July 2025.
Raytheon was awarded the initial production contract by USSOCOM for Silent Knight in June 2019. That deal was worth $96.6 million.
Silent Knight is designed to facilitate safe flights at low altitude, by night or in bad weather.
USSOCOM has earmarked the radar for installation on its MH-47G Chinook and MH-60M Black Hawk helicopters, as well as MC-130J transport aircraft and CV-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft.
